About the Campaign
Know The Score, Grow Your Reader is a campaign designed to help families and educators work together in support of student success.
Across the country, research shows that families want to support their children’s learning but often don’t have clear information about whether their child is on track academically. In Arkansas, 84% of parents believe their child is at or above grade level in reading – but state data show that only 34% are actually meeting grade-level expectations.*
One reason for this gap is that report card grades – while important – don’t always tell the full story about grade-level achievement. Teachers say one of the best ways for families to understand how their child is doing is ongoing communication with the child’s teacher.
This campaign is designed to help make those conversations easier. Families and educators can access free tips, tools, and resources that support strong partnerships around student learning.

A National Campaign with Local Focus
Know The Score, Grow Your Reader is part of the Go Beyond Grades initiative of Learning Heroes, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the relationship between families and schools so that every child can succeed.
Since 2023, Learning Heroes has launched Go Beyond Grades campaigns in communities across the country. These campaigns combine research, local student achievement data, and evidence-based tools to support families as they partner with educators on behalf of student learning.
In Arkansas, the campaign is tailored to support the state’s LEARNS Act reading policy and priorities. It is designed to support ongoing efforts to strengthen student achievement and is part of a broader strategy with ADE to expand family-school partnerships.
